Introduction

The Wellington Place neighbourhood is undergoing extremely rapid change and has become one of the most popular new places to live and work in the city. This wave of reinvestment creates both a challenge and an opportunity.

WPNA has committed itself to working with our Councillor and City staff to ensure that all developers coming into the neighbourhood respect its unique context and history, and make a positive contribution to its rebirth as a vital downtown community.

Issues

Our concerns include: the scale and character of new buildings, preservation of the existing heritage building stock, appropriate new uses and activities, traffic, parking and servicing impacts, and securing developer participation in implementing improvements to parks and streetscapes and in providing community amenities.

We are working with the City to monitor all new development activity and create opportunities for the community to be involved at the earliest possible stage.
